Why Scalp Care Is the Foundation for Hair Growth

After pregnancy, many people notice more hair shedding than usual. This condition is called Telogen Effluvium and it’s a natural response of the hair cycle to hormonal changes.

* Normal hair cycles: Hair grows in cycles—growth (anagen), transition (catagen), and resting/shedding (telogen). Normally, we shed about 50–100 hairs per day.

* What changes postpartum: During pregnancy, elevated hormones keep more hairs in the growth phase. After childbirth, hormone levels drop suddenly, pushing a larger number of hairs into the shedding (telogen) phase. This is why shedding can appear sudden and noticeable.

* Other triggers: Stress, illness, surgery, or certain medications can also disrupt the hair cycle, causing temporary hair thinning.

* Why scalp health matters: A clean, balanced, and well-nourished scalp creates an environment where hair follicles can recover and produce strong new strands. Removing buildup and stimulating the scalp improves circulation and nutrient delivery to the roots, supporting regrowth.

In short, postpartum or stress-related hair loss is usually temporary. By maintaining scalp health and supporting the follicles, new hair can grow back stronger over time.
